The ongoing investigation into the horrifying rape-murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor has revealed shocking details about Sanjay Roy, the prime accused. Roy was arrested a day after the body of the doctor was found in the seminar hall of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.

Sanjay Roy, along with another civic volunteer, visited Sonagachi after midnight on August 8, considered a 'red light area' in north Kolkata. Roy had consumed alcohol on the same night before the trainee doctor was raped and murdered, sources added.

While Roy's partner entered a prostitute's house, Sanjay stood outside. The same happened when the duo visited another red light area at Chetla in south Kolkata around 2am, sources said.

The accused also badly teased a woman passing by who was in an intoxicated state. He also called a woman and asked for her nude photographs, sources said.

Sanjay's partner took a commercial rented bike and went home. Meanwhile, Sanjay was spotted lurking around the Trauma unit of the RG Kar hospital at around 3:50 am.

In an extremely intoxicated state, Sanjay burst through the operation theatre door.

He arrived at the emergency wing of the hospital at around 4:03 am and went straight to the seminar hall, located on the third floor.

During police interrogation, Sanjay confessed that he spotted the trainee doctor when she was in deep sleep. According to sources, he confessed to the police that he "jumped on her and raped her".

Sources earlier said that at around 11 pm on the night the crime took place, Sanjay went to a place behind the hospital to drink alcohol, adding that he used to watch porn while drinking there.

Police sources also said that Roy entered the hospital premises several times that night.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday got permission from a Kolkata court to conduct a lie detector test of Sanjay Roy.
