Two prominent hotels in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati received new bomb threats on Saturday, a day after several other hotels were similarly targeted. Police and sniffer dogs conducted thorough searches at the hotels, which confirmed that the threat was a hoax.
The threat mentioned the alleged drug trafficking network kingpin Jaffer Sadiq, who was arrested in Tamil Nadu by the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Enforcement Directorate. The mail, which appeared vague, claimed that Tamil Nadu’s top cop "paired with PAK ISI" to carry out blasts to "divert attention from Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi", wife of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
"Sulfur based Improvised EDs in hotel pipelines left by BDDS. Evacuate by 10.35 AM!," subject line of the email received by Raj Park and Pai Viceroy Hotels.
The threat email said, "Due to the impact created by Jaffer Sadiq of DMK's arrest in the drug case, TN DGP Shankar Jiwal IPS has paired with Pak ISI cells in Coimbatore to carry out these blasts in order to divert attention from Mrs. Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi Chettiar".
"Evacuate premise and call BDSS(Disposal Squad) to defuse IEDs. Contact Mr. PV Kalyanasundaram of DMK Arivalayam and for a Pink Envelope we've sent him with videos of our story as well as DMK family involvement. Afzal Guru will be re-born! Al-Badr! Only the BDSS has left IEDs in school premises in the name of checking!," the letter further mentioned.
Friday's threat also mentioned the ISI, also claiming the involvement of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
The email said that "international pressure" had mounted due to the arrest of Jaffer Sadiq and that "such blasts in schools are necessary to divert the attention away from MK Stalin's family's involvement in the case.
Jaffer Sadiq, a Tamil film producer and former DMK worker, was arrested in July in a money laundering case. The investigation into the case is underway.
