Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Opposition of insulting him in the first 100 days of the BJP-led NDA government's third term, and said he chose not to respond to any of their taunts and ensure the completion of the government's agenda during the period.
Narendra Modi took oath for a record third time as the Prime Minister on June 9, and the BJP-led NDA government completes 100 days on Tuesday (September 17), which also happens to be the Prime Minister's birthday.
Addressing a rally in Ahmedabad after laying the foundation stone and flagging of various development projects, PM Modi said, "In the first 100 days of my third term, they made fun of me and insulted me. But I chose not to respond to any of their insults and ensure that the government's agenda for 100 days was completed."
He alleged that some opposition leaders wanted to divide the country by targeting the country's integrity and unity.
PM Modi spoke about India's first 'Vande Metro', now renamed as Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, running between Ahmedabad and Bhuj, saying it would provide a huge convenience to the middle-class in travelling from one city to another.
"In the last 100 days, dozens of projects related to rail, road, port, airport and metro have been approved. Here in Gujarat too, the foundation stone of many projects related to connectivity has been laid or inaugurated today. Today is a special day for Gujarat for another reason. From today, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail has started running between Ahmedabad and Bhuj. Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is going to provide a lot of convenience to our middle-class families who travel from one city to another in the country every day," he said.
"It will immensely benefit students, professionals and businessmen. In the future, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will connect many cities in the country. The speed with which the network of Vande Bharat trains has been expanded in these 100 days is unprecedented," he added.
The Prime Minister said new Vande Bharat trains were started on more than 15 new routes in the country in the first 100 days of the NDA 3.0. "This means that in the last 15 weeks, 15 new Vande Bharat trains have been started, one every week," he asserted.
