The BJP has sent a defamation notice to Delhi Minister Atishi following her claim that she had been approached to join the party or face arrest by the Enforcement Directorate within a month.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Parveen Shankar Kapoor sent the legal notice to Atishi and demanded a public apology from her after she alleged that the ruling party had threatened her with arrest and had approached her to switch allegiance.

"The BJP has approached me through someone very close. They have asked me to join the BJP and said this will save my political career. They have threatened that if I don't switch over, ED (Enforcement Directorate) will arrest me within a month," Atishi told the media previously.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader further claimed that she, along with party colleagues Saurabh Bharadwaj, Raghav Chadha, and Durgesh Pathak, were targeted by the BJP. She alleged that the ED would conduct raids at her residence and those of her relatives, before arresting her.

"The BJP's plan is to arrest four more AAP leaders in the next two months. They will arrest me, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, and Raghav Chadha," Atishi charged.

The BJP dismissed Atishi's allegations as "baseless." Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva refuted the accusations, labelling Atishi's statements as falsehoods. He suggested that AAP was embroiled in an internal conflict after top leaders were arrested in the liquor policy case.

"The entire Aam Aadmi Party was involved in the 'liquor scam' and its leaders were fighting among themselves over the apprehension about who would be the next 'sacrificial lamb'," Sachdeva claimed.
