Congress releases second list of 23 candidates for Maharashtra Assembly polls

Congress on Saturday released the second list of 23 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly polls.

In the second list, the party showed confidence in its senior leaders, including Rajesh Tukaram Manvatkar, Mahesh Gangane Wardha and Shekhar Pramodbabu Shende.

The second list of Congress came days after the Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said that the final seat-sharing formula of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance would be announced by Friday.

  • Arjuni-Morgaon (SC)-- Dalip Waman Bansod

  • Amgaon (ST)-- Rajkumar Lotuji Puram

  • Ralegaon-- Vasant Chinduji Purke

  • Yavatmal-- Balasaheb Shankarrao Mangulkar

  • Arni (ST)-- Jitendra Shivajirao Moghe

  • Umarkhed (SC)-- Sahebrao Dattrao Kamble

  • Jalna-- Kalias Kisanrao Gortantyal

  • Aurangabad East-- Madhukar Krishnarao Deshmukh

  • Vasai-- Vijay Govind Patil

  • Sion Koliwada-- Ganesh Kumar Yadav

  • Shrirampur (SC)-- Hemant Ogale

  • Nilanga-- Abhaykumar Satishrao Salunkhe

  • Shirol-- Ganpatrao Appasaheb Patil

Earlier, the Congress announced its first list of 48 candidates, with state Congress chief Nana Patole from Sakoli, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan from Karad South and Leader of Opposition in the outgoing Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar from Brahmapuri.

Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT), as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, are contesting 85 seats, while discussions on the remaining 33 seats out of the total 288 are still underway.

Polling for the 288-member state assembly will take place on November 20 and counting of votes will take place three days later.
