The autopsy report of actor-model Malaika Arora's father Anil Mehta revealed that he died due to multiple injuries, police sources informed India Today TV on Thursday.

On Wednesday, September 11, Mehta (62) jumped off the sixth floor of the building, "Ayesha Manor", in Mumbai's Bandra's Almeida Park area, where he stayed with his wife.

Malaika Arora's mother was in her sixth-floor flat in the building when Mehta jumped from the building.

After the incident, a team of Mumbai Police rushed to the spot and shifted Mehta to a hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors.

The post-mortem was conducted at around 8 pm on Wednesday at Mumbai's Bhabha Hospital, which revealed "multiple injuries" as the cause of the death, police sources said to India Today TV.

After the death of her father, a statement released by Malaika on Instagram expressed the family's profound grief over the tragic death of their father.

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock over this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect," the statement read.

The source added that the last rites of Mehta will be performed at a crematorium in the city's Santacruz today.
