Woman Removed From Flight For Assaulting 2 Co-Passengers, CISF Constable At Pune Airport

JJ News Desk

A woman travelling on a private airline to New Delhi was removed from her flight after assaulting two fellow passengers and a CISF constable at Pune’s Lohegaon Airport.

The incident took place on Saturday during the boarding process. As per the airport authorities, the woman initially attacked a brother and sister who were seated in their assigned spots.

Following this, the crew called for CISF assistance, prompting constables Priyanka Reddy and Sonika Pal to be dispatched to handle the situation. However, the woman responded aggressively, slapping and biting constable Reddy when she intervened

The situation escalated, leading CISF officers to restrain and remove the woman and her husband from the aircraft. They were subsequently handed over to the airport police, and a case was registered.

The woman, a homemaker, and her husband, a software engineer from Pune, were en route to Delhi for a relative’s funeral.

According to a CISF officer, the woman appeared to be in severe distress due to a personal emergency.

“She seemed to be in a state of extreme distress due to a personal emergency. After her altercation with the co-passengers, the pilot refused to fly with her, prompting the airline to seek our help as she grew more violent,” the officer noted.

Senior Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari stated that the woman was released after receiving a notice to join the investigation when summoned. “We let her go after issuing a notice asking her to join our probe as and when summoned by the investigating officer,” he said.

Sankeshwari added that the airline staff and CISF officers have provided their statements to the authorities, and the involved passengers have continued their journey to Delhi.
