A family in Gujarat bid a heartfelt farewell to their beloved 12-year-old car with a full-fledged burial ceremony along with traditional rituals.
The event, held in Amreli district, drew nearly 1,500 attendees, and several videos of the ceremony went quickly viral on social media.
The grand farewell, costing over lakhs, took place on the family’s agricultural land. Several viral clips shared online showed the "lucky" car – a Wagon R – adorned with garlands and floral decorations.
The vehicle was gently pushed into a 15-foot-deep pit, as family members looked on.
Sanjay Pallora, the car’s owner, explained the emotional connection behind the ceremony.
Palora, who runs a construction business in Surat, shared that the car had played a major role in his family’s success.
“I bought this car nearly 12 years ago, and it brought prosperity to the family. We saw immense success in business, and our social standing improved. Instead of selling it off, we chose to give it a ‘samadhi’ as a tribute to the luck it brought us,” Palora said.
The family did not hold back on the farewell rituals. After draping the car with green fabric, they performed a traditional puja, showering it with rose petals as priests chanted mantras. They also performed garba around the car.
The family’s unusual tribute undoubtedly left an impression, as their farewell ceremony to a car became a memorable event.
