The principal of a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha suspended a nursery student, allegedly for bringing non-vegetarian food in his lunch box to school. The incident came to light after a video, shot by the student's mother, went viral on social media.
The video showed a heated argument between the principal and the child's mother.
"We don't want to teach such kids with such morals, who will demolish our temples, and bring non-veg to school," the principal could be heard telling the mother.
He alleged that the boy talked about feeding non-veg to everyone and "converting them to Islam". The principal is seen alleging that the student admitted to bringing non-veg to school, even as his mother denied.
The woman refuted the allegations by the principal, saying that a 7-year-old boy like her son could not possibly talk about such things, to which the principal said that the child learns it all at home, taught by his parents.
The principal also said the student's name had been removed from the school's register as the parents of other students had a problem.
The mother of the child also retorts to the principal's claims, saying that students in the school argue over Hindu-Muslim issues in the country.
The woman accused another child of hitting her son and troubling him quite often. At this, the principal said that the woman was trying to "mislead" the school by levelling counter-allegations at another student.
Reacting to the almost 7-minute-long video going viral online, the Amroha Police said that the District Inspector of Schools (DIS) has swung into action and a three-member enquiry committee has been formed to investigate and take further action in the matter.
