Train attendant's ‘reply’ as man flags ticketless passengers in AC-1 coach

JJ News Desk

“Horror” is the word that a man used to describe his train journey in the AC-1 coach of the Delhi Sarai Rohilla SuperFast Express. Kushal Mehra shared an angry post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 2 that prompted a response from the Indian Railways as it went viral. A group of women – ticketless passengers, basically – were seen sitting outside Kushal’s cabin on the floor of the coach.

Enraged, Kushal did manage to speak to the attendant, but in vain. “The horror on Train no 22949 Delhi Saria Rohilla train first ac continues. Outside my cabin right now when I woke up and went to use the washroom. I couldn't even click the others on the right as I couldn't walk past these women. I asked the attendant, and he says this is how it is. No one does anything,” Kushal said in his post.

Tagging the Ministry of Railways in his post on X, Kushal said, “@RailMinIndia Coach no HA1 A1 Cabin This is organised ticket less traveling right outside my cabin!”

Hours after he shared the post, Kushal said that the ticketless passengers were nowhere to be seen. “And it gets cleared when they find out I tagged the minister. I am never traveling by trains ever again in my life,” he said.

The official X account of Northern Railway, India reacted to Kushal’s post as it garnered over 6 lakh views.

The internet, of late, has been flooded with pictures and videos of ticketless passengers overcrowding train coaches. Last month, a passenger complained on X as people were seen sitting on the floor of an overcrowded sleeper coach since they did not have reserved tickets.

Another video showed the dire condition of an AC-2 coach that was overcrowded with passengers sitting on the floor. The doors of the coach were open as the AC, a passenger alleged, was not working. People, in fact, were seen standing near the toilets and the corridor was blocked due to lack of space.
