Student paraded half-naked holding Ambedkar's portrait in Karnataka's Kalaburagi

A student at a hostel in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district was paraded half-naked on Thursday when he allegedly refused to attend an event commemorating BR Ambedkar that was organised by the hostel students.

A case was registered against 15-20 hostel boys, who forced the victim to walk about town in a half-naked state. The was case lodged under Section 341 (wrongful restraint), Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), Section 505(2) (public mischief), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

All the boys involved in the matter are minors, mentioned the FIR.

The incident occurred when the victim had refused to attend the 'Ambedkar Puja' that was conducted by the hostel students in Kalaburagi. In response, at least 15–20 students assaulted the victim and paraded him in the streets of Kalaburagi while holding a portrait of Ambedkar on his head.
