Patna: After making it clear that the proposed AIIMS in Darbhanga will be constructed at Shobhan Bypass, the state government is to write a letter to the Centre asking it to expedite the process so that the construction work could begin at the earliest.
Sources in the state health department said they have received a letter from the Centre in this regard. “We will be sending a fresh letter to the Centre probably on Thursday to expedite the process of stone laying so that construction work can be started soon,” an official said.
CM Nitish Kumar on Monday announced that the Centre had given its sanction for construction of AIIMS at Shobhan Bypass. Earlier, the tussle between the state and the Centre over the choice of land had brought the project to a standstill.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar confirmed that the proposed AIIMS-Darbhanga will be built in Sobhan village, selected by the state government. The Centre has given its approval and requested the state government to raise the height of the land. Nitish also laid foundation stones for a 2,100-bed hospital, an academic building, a 400-bed surgical block, and the construction works at Rajkiya Maharani Rameshwari Bhartiya Chikitsa Vigyan Sansthan. He inaugurated a Didi Ki Rasoi in the surgical block and emphasized the need for proper drainage to prevent waterlogging in the campus during the rainy season. The construction work will greatly benefit the people once completed.
