Portion of 3-storey building collapses in Noida, some feared trapped

The portion of the building collapsed while digging work on a neighbouring plot of land was underway.

A portion of a three-storeyed building collapsed in Noida's Bahlolpur village on Monday while some digging work on a neighbouring plot was going on. After getting information about the incident, a police team reached the spot and started rescue work.

Two people were rescued from under the debris and have been sent to hospital for treatment. Several others may be feared trapped under the debris, police said.

"Search and rescue operations are underway. Three people have been rescued and sent to hospital. One person is likely to be trapped," Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of Noida, Pradeep Kumar said.

A video from the site showed a bulldozer clearing the debris while police and the fire unit engaged in rescue work.
