Patna: A student of second year in BTech course at NIT Patna, Bihar committed suicide in the early hours of Saturday. The untimely death of the student has sparked massive protests by the students on campus against the administration.

NIT Patna Student Commits Suicide

In an unfortunate incident, a second year BTech student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT Patna) committed suicide by hanging herself in the women's hostel; the campus is located at Sikandarpur in Bihta Police Station area. A resident of Anandpura in Hyderabad, the student was shifted to the under-construction campus a couple of months ago. The reason behind her drastic step is yet to be ascertained.

NIT Patna Suicide Sparks Massive Protests Against Administration

The suicide on the Bihta campus sparked massive protests led by the students on both Bihta and Patna NITs; the students took to the streets and created a ruckus. They had placards in their hands and were raising slogans against the college administration. The students have alleged that women were shifted to the under-construction campus' hostel despite the fact that there was a lack of adequate facilities.
