Nihang Sikh kills man at Punjab Gurdwara over suspicion of sacrilege, say cops

A Nihang Sikh allegedly killed a young man at Gurudwara Shri Choura Khooh Sahib in Punjab's Phagwara over suspicions of sacrilege, police said on Tuesday.

Senior officials of the Punjab Police have reached the spot, and further investigation is underway, Phagwara SP Gurpreet Singh said.

A large number of police have been deployed at the Gurudwara following the incident.

Nihang Sikhs are a quasi-monastic group armed with traditional weapons, tasked with protecting the Sikh faith and religion.
