Nigerian nationals attack Bengaluru cops with rods, helmets during drugs raid

The cops who came to rescue the crime branch team were also attacked by the Nigerian nationals in Bengaluru. They also vandalised a police vehicle.

Officers of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) were attacked with iron rods, stones, and helmets by a group of Nigerian nationals in Bengaluru after they raided a residence on being tipped off about drug consumption. The incident was caught on CCTV footage.

CCB Inspector Subramanya Swamy and five other officers suffered severe injuries in the assault as the Nigerian nationals attempted to flee the spot.

The incident occurred in Mavallipura within the limits of Rajanukunte police station.

The CCB had received information about drug consumption at a residence in Mavallipura. Acting on the tip-off, CCB officers raided the house occupied by the Nigerian nationals.

However, they were attacked with rods and helmets as they reached the residence. The CCB team immediately called the police for backup.

However, the police officers were also attacked by the Nigerian nationals, who vandalised a police vehicle and shattered its windows.

The injured personnel are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
