Minor raped in Ghaziabad, angry mob vandalises shops, sets vehicles ablaze

JJ News Desk

A minor was allegedly raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad on Wednesday. The incident sparked a protest in the area on Thursday, with an angry mob setting vehicles on fire.

The police arrested one man, who works as a scrap dealer, in connection with the rape of minor.

The incident occurred in the Link Road area. The accused, who works as a scrap dealer, allegedly broke into the girl’s home through the back door, drugged her, and then sexually assaulted her with the help of his accomplices.

The girl was also allegedly beaten up by the accused.

Locals alleged that more than one person was involved in the crime. Dissatisfied with the arrest of only one suspect, locals staged protests on Thursday and vandalised shops and several vehicles parked in the area.

The protestors gathered outside the Link Road police station, expressing their outrage and calling for the death penalty for the perpetrators.
