Mumbai police have booked an HR manager of a private company for allegedly demanding sexual favours for a 23-year-old woman in exchange for releasing her deceased father’s provident fund (PF). The incident came to light on Wednesday, after the woman, a resident of Bandra (E), approached the police.
The woman had documented the incriminating conversations between her and the accused, based on which he was booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
However, the accused is yet to be arrested.
As per the report, the woman works as a domestic help and lives with her younger brother and grandmother. Her parents were divorced and her father passed away in 2015 when she was 15 years old.
Before his death, her father named her the nominee of her provident fund, which she could receive after turning 18.
In the complaint, the woman said that despite submitting multiple forms to claim the PF, the company did not release it.
“After being informed that my father’s file was with the company’s manager, I faced further delays. When I contacted the HR manager, he asked for sexual favours to expedite the payment.
