JJ News Desk

A young man drowned after jumping down 150 feet into a lake at a stone quarry in Rajasthan's Udaipur, authorities said on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Udaipur resident Dinesh Meena. He had come to the quarry to shoot Instagram Reels along with four of his friends.

As per reports, one of Dinesh's friends had first slipped off the cliff and fell into the water, but he somehow managed to come out safely.

However, Dinesh then jumped into the water from a height of approximately 150 feet. When he did not come out of the water for a long time, his friends got worried and informed the police.

"Dinesh Meena jumped down nearly 150 feet into deep water and drowned. Local police and divers reached the spot after receiving the information and recovered his body after three hours of search operation", Civil Security Department diver Naresh Chaudhry said.

"The body has been lodged at the mortuary of MB Hospital by the police and the deceased youth's family has been informed about the tragedy," he added.

Just last Tuesday, an 18-year-old man in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand drowned after he jumped into deep water from a height to make an Instagram reel.

The man, Tausif, jumped into a quarry lake from a height of about 100 feet on Monday. His friends, who were bathing in the lake, tried to save him but were unsuccessful.

They alerted locals and police, and a search operation was launched. The youth's body was recovered later.
