Man dyes hair, beard to disguise as elderly passenger, caught at Delhi airport

JJ News Desk

A 24-year-old man, with hair and beard dyed to appear as a senior citizen, was caught at Delhi airport as he tried to board a flight to Canada.

Guru Sewak Singh, 24, was caught by CISF officials on Tuesday at Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. He has been handed over to the Delhi Police.

During security check, Singh produced his identity in the form of a passport bearing the name Rashvindar Singh Sahota, 67. He was supposed to board an Air Canada flight flying out of Delhi.

However, the CISF officials found his activities suspicious as his voice and skin did not match his age mentioned in the passport.

"The man's appearance, voice and skin texture seemed significantly younger than the details provided in the passport. Closer observation revealed that he had dyed his hair and beard white and was wearing glasses to appear older," a CISF statement read.

On strict interrogation, the man disclosed his correct identity. The officials also found a photo of his real passport on his phone, which mentioned that he was aged 24.

Singh was handed over to Delhi Police along with his belongings for legal action in the matter.
