Azam Cheema, a senior commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group and key conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, has died due of a heart attack in Pakistan's Faisalabad city, top intelligence sources said.

The sources told India Today that Cheema was the mastermind of the 2006 train bombings in Mumbai that killed 188 people and injured more than 800 people.

He was wanted by the US government for allegedly training the terrorists who carried out the 2008 attacks, which led to the deaths of a total of 166 people, including six Americans.

Cheema's funeral was held in Malkhanwala, Faisalabad, the sources informed India Today.

On November 26, 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists entered the south Mumbai areas through a sea route and attacked a number of places, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

The indiscriminate attack killed 166 people and 18 security personnel.
