JJ News Desk

Anita Goyal, Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal's wife, died on Thursday morning at a hospital in Mumbai. She had been battling cancer for a long time.

Naresh Goyal who had recently been granted interim bail, was with his wife while she took her last breath.

Sources close to the family said that Anita Goyal passed away around 3 am after which friends and family members gathered at the hospital.

The funeral will be held later today.

Naresh Goyal is also suffering from cancer.

On May 3, Naresh Goyal's lawyer told the Bombay High Court that the Jet Airways founder had lost the "will to live", as he pleaded for medical bail.

The court reserved its order on the bail plea, and directed that Goyal not be discharged from the private hospital where he is admitted until May 6.

On May 6, the Bombay High Court granted interim bail to Naresh Goyal for two months on medical grounds.

In February, a special court refused bail to Naresh Goyal but permitted him to be admitted to a private hospital of his choice and seek medical treatment.

Later, he moved the Bombay High Court seeking interim bail on merits and release on medical grounds.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Naresh Goyal in September 2023 on allegations that he had laundered money and siphoned off loans to the tune of Rs 538.62 crore given to Jet Airways by Canara Bank.

His wife, Anita Goyal, was arrested in November 2023 when the probe agency submitted its chargesheet in the case.

She was granted bail by a special court on the same day, considering her age and medical condition.
