IRS officer arrested after live-in partner's body found at Noida apartment

The woman's parents lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that she used to ask Saurabh to marry her, due to which there used to be frequent fights between them.

An Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer was arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Noida.

Police said that they received information that a woman had died by suicide in Lotus Boulevard Society in Noida Sector-100 on May 25 evening.

Upon enquiry, they found that the IRS officer, Saurabh Meena, had been in a relationship with the woman, Shilpa Gautam, for three years, and they were living together. Shilpa worked as a deputy manager for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), while Saurabh was a deputy commissioner in the Income Tax Department.

The police informed Shilpa's parents, following which they lodged a complaint. The parents claimed Shilpa used to ask Saurabh to marry her, due to which there used to be frequent fights between them and Saurabh used to beat her.

Based on their complaint, a case was registered and Saurabh was arrested.

According to police sources, Saurabh was present in the apartment at the time of the incident.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Manish Kumar Mishra said that the police received information about the suicide of a woman in the Lotus Boulevard Society on Saturday, May 25, evening.

"A police team reached the spot and the body was sent for postmortem examination. Based on the complaint of the woman's family, Saurabh has been detained. Further investigation is on," he added.
