Fire breaks out at UP cinema hall due to short circuit, efforts on to douse flames

A massive fire broke out at a cinema hall in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur on Sunday night. As many as six fire engines were rushed to the spot as the flames turned severe, rising up to several metres. Efforts are underway to bring the fire under control.

Visuals obtained by India Today showed the blaze engulfing the entire cinema hall, with smoke coming out from above the building. The chairs at the theatre were caught charred completely as firefighters attempted to douse the flames.

The incident happened at Amba Cinema Hall in Shahjahanpur. The fire broke out at 11 pm, and the cause of the same is short circuit in the electrical wires.

Som Prakash, security guard of the cinema hall, told that the fire broke out following the last show on Sunday.

"There was a massive short circuit in the electrical wires inside the cinemal hall. The fire broke out about 30 minutes after the last show when the employees of the hall were sitting outside. We saw flames coming from above and upon rushing inside, we saw that everything was burnt," Som Prakash said.

The police reached the spot upon learning of the fire and closed the entry and exit routes. Despite hours of efforts, the fire is yet to be brought under control.
