Delhi News Live Updates (December 15): Pollution levels in the national capital have reduced since 2014 through sustained efforts, news agency PTI quoted Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai as saying. Rai further said that Delhi has the largest green belt at 23.6 per cent among big metro cities. “Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had made a resolve and promised the people during last polls that in five years two crore new trees will be planted. And in four years that target has been met,” Rai informed the Delhi Assembly.

Meanwhile, the national capital’s minimum temperature dropped below five degrees this morning, making it the coldest day of this season. According to the Indian Meteorological Department forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 24 degrees Celsius today, with partly cloudy skies. However, over the weekend, temperatures are likely to drop to a minimum of 6 degrees Celsius.

In other news, the Delhi Police Thursday evening arrested Kolkata resident Lalit Jha, the fifth accused in the Parliament security breach, amid a political face-off between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over a photo that featured Jha and TMC MLA Tapas Roy.
