China: People Resort to Social Media to Help Victims Amidst Heavy Floods

#NewsRail: China: Massive floods devastatingly hit China, resulting in people to unite on social media to help flood victims.Weibo, a digital platform, has come as a life saviour, as it is continuously being used by the people for sharing heath related information and also to connect with rescue teams.People in flood affected areas are making most of this digital platform- sharing their horrifying situatio and requesting for help online, and after watching them thousands of social media are responding by redirecting their Weibo posts to emergency rescue teams so that they can easily know where to go.Hashtags are also going viral, some of them even including information about menstruation - gathered more than 200 million views, as doctors and social workers reminded women to change their sanitary pads frequently to avoid the risk of infection. People also posted addresses to locations where women could collect free sanitary products.Zhengzhou (capital of China’s Henan Province) saw a heavy rainfall in three days, that they have never witnessed in their entire year- resulting in costing the lives of as many as 33 people in the region.
