The Mumbai Police on Wednesday detained a teenager from Chhattisgarh for allegedly issuing hoax bomb threat calls to three flights.

According to the police, they received complaints about bomb threats on some flights to Mumbai. These threats were made through some social media posts.

Upon investigation, it was found that a minor boy from Chhattisgarh was behind these posts.

The boy was detained and handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board after giving notice to his parents.

Initial investigation revealed that there was a dispute between the boy and his friend over money. Due to this, the boy allegedly made threatening posts on social media using the photo of his friend.

At present, the police are investigating if this case is connected to several other incidents of hoax bomb threats received by some flights recently.

In the last three days, nearly a dozen Indian flights, operating on both domestic and international routes, have received hoax bomb threats.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu said he was closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that every necessary measures are taken against such actions.

"Mumbai Police has arrested a minor responsible for issuing bomb threats targeting three flights. All others responsible for the disruptions will be identified and duly prosecuted," he said.
