A 19-year-old man working as a food delivery executive in Chennai died by suicide on Wednesday after allegedly being scolded by a customer.

Pavithran, who was a B.Com student, was found dead at his residence, with a suicide note blaming the customer's harsh treatment for his extreme step.

The incident took place on September 11 when Pavithran, while delivering food in Korattur area, was delayed as he struggled to locate the customer's house. The delay led to a heated argument, with the customer reprimanding him and later filing a formal complaint about the service.

Two days later, tensions escalated when Pavithran allegedly hurled a stone at the customer’s residence, breaking a window. This incident resulted in the customer lodging a police complaint against him.

On Wednesday, Pavithran was found hanging from the ceiling of his home. Kolathur Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Kilpauk Government Hospital for an autopsy.

A suicide note, purportedly written by Pavithran, was also discovered at the residence.

In the note, Pavithran expressed his distress, stating, "The reason for my death – I went into depression after being scolded by the person during the delivery. More deaths will occur as long as such women exist".

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
