A 13-year-old child sustained serious injuries in a fresh wolf attack on Sunday night in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, which has seen a series of similar attacks in recent days.

According to the police, the carnivore attacked Armaan Ali (13), when he was sleeping on the terrace of his home in Bharaich's Mahis tehsil (sub division).

After the attack, the child was rushed to a local health facility with injuries to his neck and shoulders, from where he was referred to the Bharaich Medical College due to the seriousness of his injuries.

The recent attack by the wild animal on the boy came hours after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath conducted an aerial survey of the region and met families of those who lost their lives in the recent wolf attacks during the human-wildlife conflict.

After meeting the families, Adityanath emphasised that public safety is the government's top priority and said that the forest department, district administration and police, will continue working in the area until the threat is fully eliminated.

"The government has classified human-wildlife conflict as a disaster. In the event of loss of life, an immediate compensation of Rs 5 lakh is provided to the victim's family. Anti-rabies treatment has also been made available for those injured in wild animal attacks," he said.

The chief minister further said 25 teams, comprising 165 personnel from the forest department, have been deployed to ensure public safety. Four thermal drones have also been deployed for monitoring.

People in Bahraich and nearby are forced to live in fear due to the ongoing wolf attacks. More than ten people have been killed and more than 35 injured in these attacks.

The first incident occurred on July 17, when a wolf attacked a one-year-old child, and the attacks have continued intermittently every four to five days.
