A nine-year-old boy, studying at an Urdu promotion institute in Tamil Nadu's Madurai, was murdered, and his body was recovered from inside a septic tank.

The child was from Bihar and was studying at the institute along with 11 other students. The incident happened in Kathapatti village of Madurai, and came to light after the warden of the institute lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday (May 25) as the nine-year-old boy could not be found.

The police initiated an investigation, which led them to the minor's body hidden inside the septic tank. His body was found with multiple stab wounds to his neck and stomach.

According to police sources, the minor had an altercation with a 13-year-old boy, who was also a student at the institute.

The police have detained the 13-year-old and further investigation into the matter is underway.
