Bihar Shooting Incident: 2 Dead, 4 Injured as Man Opens Fire on Family Returning from Chhath Puja Due to Love Affair

Two people were killed and four others injured in a shooting incident in Bihar's Lakhisarai district. The incident occurred as a man opened fire on a family returning from Chhath Ghat after morning prayers. The police suspect that the shooting was related to a love affair.

At least two members of a family were shot dead and four others were injured in firing in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Monday. The incident took place in Punjabi Mohalla under the Kabaiya police station of Lakhisarai, when they were returning from Chhath Ghat after morning prayers.

According to Pankaj Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP), Lakhisara, three of the four injured people have been referred from Begusarai Sadar Hospital to Patna.

According to police, the matter is related to a love affair.

“Six to seven members of a family were returning from Chhath Ghat when a man, Ashish Chaudhary who used to stay in front of the victim’s house opened fire on them. Six people were shot, out of which two are dead and three are seriously injured,” Kumar said.

“Ashish Chaudhary wanted to marry a girl belonging to the victim’s family but they were not ready for this. We are conducting an investigation, the accused will be arrested soon,” he added.

Police have reached the spot and an investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, in another incident, three people were shot at over a dispute on bursting of firecrackers in Bihar’ Vaishali.

“The incident took place at 9 pm on November 19 at Belka village in Vaishali district following a dispute between two groups. Three people were shot at. They have been referred to Patna for treatment. Investigation is underway,” police official said.
