Andhra: Kargil Vijay Diwas's 22nd Anniversary Observed by Eastern Naval Command at Sea War Memorial

Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: On Monday, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) commemorated the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Beach Road's 'Victory at Sea' War Memorial. On this occasion, a 50-men Guard of Honour was marched.The floral wreath was laid by Vice Admiral Sreekumar Nair, which was followed by a two-minute silence. Aside from the Vice-Admiral, the solemn wreath-laying event was attended by a number of military officials and civil dignitaries. Manush Kumar Sinha, the city police commissioner, also paid tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the sacrifices and valour of the Kargil war heroes, saying that their courage inspires the country every day.PM Modi tweeted “We remember their sacrifices. We remember their valour. Today, on Kargil Vijay Diwas we pay homage to all those who lost their lives in Kargil protecting our nation. Their bravery motivates us every single day.” On July 26, 1999, the Indian armed forces defeated Pakistan. Since then, the day has been commemorated as 'Kargil Vijay Diwas,' to honor the soldiers who valiantly fought in Operation Vijay.
