8 Naxalites killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh's Abujhmadh, soldier injured

Eight Naxalites were killed, and one soldier injured during an ongoing encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, involving security forces from multiple districts.

As many as eight Naxalites were killed, while one soldier was injured during an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Saturday.

The encounter between security personnel and Naxalites broke out earlier today, in the forest of Abhujmad.

Security personnel from four districts - Narayanpur, Kanker, Dantewada and Kondagaon - were out on an anti-Naxal operation at the time of the encounter, an official told news agency PTI.

The operation involving the personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from four districts, Special Task Force (STF) and the 53rd battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was launched on June 12, he said.

The encounter was still underway.
