Seven Maoists, including two women, were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district.

A huge quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, including AK-47 rifles, have also been recovered from the encounter site.

Chhattisgarh Inspector general of Police, P Sundarraj, said that the encounter is underway.

A joint operation was launched by the Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Force on Monday in the Abujhmad region along the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts, and an encounter took place early Tuesday morning.

All seven bodies have been recovered, and identification is underway," officials added.

This is the second major strike on Naxalites by security forces in 15 days.

With this incident, 88 Naxalites have been killed so far this year in separate encounters with security forces in the state's Bastar region, comprising seven districts including Narayanpur and Kanker, according to police.

On April 16, 29 Naxalites were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Kanker district.
