At least five people were hospitalised after they consumed mouth freshener at a restaurant in Gurugram, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred when one Amit Kumar, along with his wife and friends, visited the La Forestta Cafe in Gurugram's Sector 90.

Police said that after having their meals, the group were offered mouth fresheners by restaurant staff, which resulted in an immediate deterioration of their health.

Those who consumed the mouth fresheners began experiencing continuous vomiting and bleeding from their mouths.

Amit Kumar alleged that despite their worsening condition, the restaurant management did not assist the group and remained indifferent.

The group then informed the Gurugram Police about the incident, who rushed to the scene and shifted them to a nearby private hospital where they are undergoing medical treatment.

Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the restaurant owner and police are currently investigating the matter.
