At least three people were killed, while six others were injured after a fire broke out and caused an explosion at a food processing unit in Delhi.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday in the Narela Industrial Area.
According to the Delhi Police, they received a call about the incident at nearly 3.35 am today.
Fourteen fire tenders were pressed into service and the dousing operation was still underway, a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official told news agency PTI.
The official also said nine people were rescued from inside the building and shifted to SHRC Hospital in Narela.
Three of them, identified as Shyam (24), Ram Singh (30) and Beerpal (42), were declared dead, while others were under treatment.
He said preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze started after a gas leak from one of the pipelines. The gas was supplied to burners used for roasting moong dal, which the unit processed.
As the fire spread, it led to the overheating of the compressor, resulting in a blast, an official said.
A case was registered under appropriate sections and investigations were underway.
