2 houses collapse near Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, 1 dead

One woman died, while nearly seven others were rescued after two houses collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi early on Tuesday.

According to city Police Commissioner, Mohit Agrawal, eight people were initially trapped under the debris of the collapsed structures.

The houses collapsed due to heavy rain in the city, top cop Kaushal Sharma said.

A team of the police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), doctors, and a dog squad were present at the spot as the rescue operations continued.

The houses were located very close to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
