1 killed, another injured as driver loses control of speeding Audi in Delhi

One person died and another was seriously injured after a speeding Audi car hit them near Ramjas College in Delhi on Sunday.

The accused, Virendra, 56, a lawyer by profession, lost control of the SUV and hit two e-rickshaw drivers, who were sitting on a cement platform near the college.

The person killed in the accident was identified as Govind Sarkar, 45, while the injured was identified as Ashok.

The SUV, which had a sticker of the Delhi High Court, broke the cement platform and an iron pole, before stopping near the gate of Ramraj College.

A female guard, who was on duty at the college's gate, said that the car narrowly missed her. She said that several students could have been injured in the incident had it not been a Sunday.

Police said that the accused had been arrested, and his medical check-up was being done to find out if he was in an inebriated state.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
