The Israeli army in southern Lebanon has dismantled a Hezbollah underground compound hidden beneath a cemetery, pouring over 4,500 cubic meters of concrete into it, according to the military. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) also released footage of the large hidden tunnel.

Inside the tunnel, which stretches over a kilometre and is located about 1.5 kilometres from the border, Israeli forces discovered command and control rooms, sleeping quarters, and weapons caches, as shown in the video shared by the army.

The compound was dismantled as hundreds of trucks and concrete mixers poured approximately 4,500 cubic meters of concrete into the facility, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing IDF soldiers.

Sharing a video of the located tunnel, the Israeli army tweeted, "Multiple underground terrorist tunnels have been dismantled by our troops, including a tunnel that was strategically located under a cemetery. Hezbollah doesn’t value human life--dead or alive".

Spokesperson of the Israeli army, Nadav Shoshani, said, "Over the years, and especially since the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1701 in 2006, the Hezbollah terrorist organisation has built and developed an extensive network of terrorist infrastructure in the villages of southern Lebanon".

"Under the guise of civilian cover, Hezbollah operatives have concealed large quantities of weapons, including arms, launchers, and more," he added.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued its bombardment across Lebanon. The Israeli offensive has killed at least 3,186 people and injured 14,078 in Lebanon since October 2023, with 53 fatalities reported on Saturday, according to a statement from the Lebanese health ministry.
