Violent clashes at California university amid pro-Gaza protests

JJ News Desk

Violent clashes broke out on Wednesday on the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) campus between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli protesters, Reuters reported. The clashes erupted after pro-Israeli supporters tried to remove a pro-Palestinian protest encampment on the campus.

Footage by US-based broadcasters showed a mob wielding sticks attacking wooden boards that were installed as a makeshift barricade to protect pro-Palestinian protesters inside the campus.

The BBC reported that fireworks were also set off near the pro-Palestinian camp.

Another video posted on X showed a Jewish student being denied entry to the library at California University. The post said pro-Palestinian activists had taken over the access area near the library and students had to get approval before being let in.
