Indian-origin woman stabbed to death in London, attacker charged with murder

Anita Mukhey, a 66-year-old NHS medical secretary, was fatally stabbed at a London bus stop. The accused, 22-year-old Jalal Debella, has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 66-year-old Indian-origin woman was stabbed to death at a bus stop in north-west London. The incident happened on May 9, at nearly 11.50 am (London local time). The accused, a 22-year-old man, was charged with murder and was remanded in custody at a hearing on Tuesday.

Mukhey succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

The police were called and, subsequently, Debella was arrested on suspicion of murder in the Colindale area of north London the same day.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) told the court that the preliminary cause of death was found to be sharp force injuries to the front of the chest and neck.
