A 41-year-old Indian-origin man died in the United States after he was allegedly hit on his head during an altercation. According to a police report, the incident happened at nearly 2 am (US local time) on February 2, outside a restaurant in downtown Washington, making it the fifth case of an Indian American killed in the US this year.

The man was identified as Vivek Chander Taneja, who worked as an executive in Virginia.

The incident came to light after officers responded to reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they found the man with critical injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on February 7.
