Delhi continues to remain under tight security cover on Sunday as India hosts day 2 of the 18th G20 Summit. Today, leaders of the world’s most powerful nations are set to begin their day with visit to Rajghat, where they will lay wreath at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, UK PM Rishi Sunak, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other Heads of state and government and Heads of international organizations at Delhi’s Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and lay a wreath.

G20 Summit LIVE: Sunak Announces Record Climate Aid Commitment

According to the British High Commission in India, United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announces record climate aid commitment as G20 in India concludes. The UK will provide $2 billion to the Green Climate Fund which is the biggest single funding commitment the UK has made to help the world tackle climate change. The UK will contribute £1.62 billion ($2 billion) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which was established by 194 countries following the Copenhagen Accord at COP15.

At the G20 Summit, Sunak has called on leaders to work together ahead of the COP28 Summit this December to both reduce their countries’ own carbon emissions and support vulnerable economies to deal with the consequences of climate change.

Symbolic Tree Plantation by G20 Leaders at Bharat Mandapam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday led G20 leaders in a symbolic tree plantation ceremony at the Bharat Mandapam convention centre here to mark the grouping’s two-day summit.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva presented saplings of their native plants to Modi at the outset of the summit’s third session titled ‘One Future’.

“The G20 Heads of Delegations participated in a symbolic tree plantation ceremony at the Bharat Mandapam. A collective effort to nurture environmental consciousness at G20 India,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
