Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is one of Zoya Akhtar’s most successful films. Zoya had helmed the film back in 2011 and it emerged as one of the biggest films of the year. ZNMD continues to have a cult following, with many hoping that the cast reunites for a sequel. Now, Zoya has revealed some interesting details about the film’s iconic ending featuring Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar running away from bulls.

Speaking to The Juggernaut, Zoya said, “The film ended for me when the boys are running and the poem says ‘Toh zinda ho tum.’ Ritesh (Sidhwani) was like, ‘You have to give it an end,’ and I was like this is the end. So then we had focus screenings and people came out and asked us if they were dead… A lot of people asked, ‘Did they die? What happened?'”

“I’m like, ‘Is this a joke?’ Then I had to shoot that song (Suraj Ki Baho Main) and put that song so that people know that they’re not dead. I was like, ‘Can we write: for the stupid people?’ He said, ‘No, you can’t put this out’, but that’s what happened. You can’t leave open ends in Indian commercial cinema. They want to know, even with Dil Dhadakne Do they were like did he meet Farah? I’m like, dude…,” Zoya added.

She recently confirmed that Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol are interested in reuniting for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 2. “Yes, this (ZNMD 2 discussions) comes up all the time, and everybody is interested.” She added, “That movie meant a lot to us. So, if we find that soul for part two, we will make it. We don’t want to do it just for money. When the audience comes to watch the second part, they will have a certain expectation, and we must give it to them; otherwise, they won’t be happy,” Zoya told ANI.
