Pop superstar Taylor Swift said she was “completely in shock” after three children were killed in a stabbing incident in Southport in northwestern England on Monday. The incident happened at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class.
The victims - all girls - were aged 6, 7 and 9. Eight children and two adults were injured in the attack and were hospitalised. Both adults and the five children are in critical condition.
“These were just little kids at a dance class,” Swift said in an Instagram story. “I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families (sic),” the 34-year-old singer wrote.
"The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I'm just completely in shock. The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders (sic),” said Swift.
Taylor Swift fans have also been raising funds for those who have been affected by the incident. According to the fundraiser's JustGiving page, they are working with Alder Hey Children's Hospital to raise money for the families and for ‘funeral funds for the two young Swifties who have tragically passed’. 28,000 euro has already been raised, which is more than double the intended 13,000 euro.
