AR Rahman has once again proven that he’s a master when it comes to creating music. In a move that will redefine the music industry in the time to come, AR Rahman has used artificial intelligence to revive the voices of late singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed for his latest project, Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Lal Salaam.

Sony Music South made this announcement on Monday, January 29. Taking to their handle on the microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, they wrote, “The mesmerizing voices of Bamba Bakya & Shahul Hameed in #ThimiriYezhuda from #LalSalaam made possible by @timelessvoicesx AI voice models. This marks the first time in the industry that a late legend’s voice has been brought back to life.”

Later today, AR Rahman took to his handle on the platform and wrote, “We took permission from their families and sent deserving remuneration for using their voice algorithms… technology is not a threat and a nuisance if we use it right…#respect #nostalgia ”

Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, Lal Salaam promises an engaging cinematic experience. The film has a stellar cast, including Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles, with Rajinikanth making an extended cameo appearance. The ensemble also features Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar and others.

This groundbreaking move, announced by Sony Music South, marks the first instance in the industry of reviving a late legend's voice. With the film boasting a stellar cast and promising an engaging cinematic experience, the music, composed by AR Rahman, adds another layer of allure.

Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions, the movie’s music is composed by the legendary AR Rahman. Vishnu Rangasamy has penned the story and co-written the screenplay with Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Reports suggest that cricket legend Kapil Dev will make a cameo appearance as himself.

The distribution rights have been acquired by actor-turned-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin’s home banner, Red Gaint Movies. It will oversee the extensive distribution of the film in Tamil Nadu. The film will be released in five languages- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
