Bollywood actors have started queuing up as polling for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections is currently underway in Maharashtra. Actor Akshay Kumar, who voted for the first time after regaining his Indian citizenship, flaunted his inked finger and talked to the media outside his polling booth.

While talking to the media, Akshay Kumar expressed his happiness about voting for the first time after getting his Indian citizenship in August 2023. He said, "I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. India should vote for what they deem is right... I think voter turnout will be good."

Akshay Kumar had applied for Canadian citizenship back in the 1990s when his 15 films tanked at the box office in a row. However, as his career flourished in India, he applied for Indian citizenship in 2019.

Earlier, Akshay had spoken about renouncing his Canadian passport. “India is everything to me...Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained is from here. And I’m fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything...,” the actor said during an interview with Aaj Tak.

Apart from Akshay, 'Mr. and Mrs. Mahi' actors Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao also reached the polling booth early in the morning to exercise their right to vote. Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar also went to cast a vote on May 20, Monday.

Akshay Kumar was last seen in the action drama, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'. The film, also starring Tiger Shroff, tanked at the box office.
