New dates announced for UGC-NET 2024, was cancelled day after exam was held

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday announced new dates for the UGC-NET 2024 examination.

The exam will now be re-conducted between August 21 and September 4, an NTA notification issued on Friday said.

The UGC-NET June 2024 Cycle examination was earlier held in pen and paper (offline) mode. However, it will now be held in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, the notification added.

Also, the date for a Computer Based Test for NCET 2024 will be July 10, 2024, while the Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam will be held from July 25 to July 27, 2024.

Meanwhile, the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2024 will be held as earlier scheduled on July 6, 2024.

About UGC-NET paper leak case

The UGC-NET-2024 exam for the selection of junior research fellows, assistant professors and PhD scholars was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 18. The exam was held at 1,205 centres across 317 cities with over 11 lakh candidates taking part in the test.

However, the exam was cancelled a day later, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan saying that the question paper was found to have been leaked on darknet.

The matter was then referred to the CBI for investigation.
