NEET 2024 toppers reduced to 61 post re-exam, no student secured perfect score

JJ News Desk

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a re-exam for 1,563 students who previously received grace marks due to lost examination time on May 5. None of the 813 candidates who retook the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on June 23 scored full marks, reducing the number of toppers from 67 to 61, officials announced on Monday.

The NTA, which released the re-exam results late Sunday night, organised the retest for students who were previously awarded grace marks. A total of 813 out of 1,563 students appeared for the re-exam at seven centres located in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, and Meghalaya.

Candidates who choose not to retake the exam will retain their original scores without the grace marks. Previously, six students from a centre in Haryana scored a perfect 720 out of 720, but none achieved full marks in the re-exam. Consequently, the number of top scorers has officially decreased to 61 from 67.
