Sensex, Nifty end higher as auto stocks rally; Adani Enterprises gains over 5%

The S&P BSE Sensex ended 328.48 points higher at 73,104.61, while the NSE Nifty50 rose 113.80 points to settle at 22,217.85.

Benchmark stock market indices ended the trading session on a positive note after encountering volatility in early trade.

Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal were the top gainers among sectoral indices and contributed to the positive momentum on Dalal Street.

Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, said, “Market is playing a wait-and-watch game as the polling season is underway and it's difficult to predict that a 3-day rally would sustain going ahead, but Sensex closing above the crucial 73k mark holds the key."
